WACS (West Africa Cable System) is currently experiencing the following outage.

Start Date & Time: 06/08/2023 @ 19:30pm
Affected Area/s: International Traffic
Impact: Our traffic has been routed over an alternative path. However, clients may experience speed, packet loss & latency issues, especially during peak hours.

Reason for break: The link is fully down and has been reported as such due to an underwater landslide from the Congo River.
This is affecting All ISPs, and the unconfirmed ETR is mid-late September.

Latest Update 05/09/2023: "YZF PFE has been powered up and cable repairs are completed. Segment S1i is powered up and traffic restored at 17:00 UTC 05/09/2023. LBK PFE is still down and has been escalated to the vendor. LKI PFE is powering up to the Limbe branch. System normalisation will be completed in due course after the Limbe PFE issue has been resolved."


Update 29/08/2023: "Due to the ongoing cable cut affecting WACS S1i between DRC and Cameroon BU, the upgrade activity has been temporarily halted. Cable repair operations are planned to begin on August 30th, with an anticipated completion date of September 9th. The timeline is subject to potential adjustments based on prevailing weather and sea conditions. Following the completion of the repair operation, WACS will resume its upgrade process."

Update 10/08/2023: "Changes have been implemented on our network to improve the connectivity during peak time. ETR for the primary cable have been updated to mid-late September. Clients may still experience issues during peak hours"
