Vumatel is currently experiencing the following issue:

Affected Area/s: Mpumalanga Zone 1   

Impact: Customers may experience no connectivity. 

 

Vumatel technicians are currently investigating. There is no ETR at the moment.

Vumatel confirmed that this outage was resolved on 30/01/2026 @ 18:17. Please restart your devices and contact our Support Team should you still experience connection issues.

Vendor update: civil team is busy with exposing the 110 duct to push new cable

Vendor technicians are trying to get Slack 

 

Update (30/01/2026 @12:55):  

As per vendor: Please note that this fault is related to the cable break we have in Cato Ridge. The techs are waiting for the civil team to arrive on-site to assist them with localizing the fault  

 

Update (30/01/2026 @11:50):  

Backhaul link from Pinetown to Cato Ridge has a disconnect. Teams are currently onsite and will start localizing shortly.  

 

Update (30/01/2026 @10:11):  
 As per vendor: Fault has been handed over to the ops manager. We will advise on ETA once the techs have been dispatched.  
 

Update (30/01/2026 @ 10:11):  

Vumatel technicians have been notified of the possible outage.
