Preparations are underway on the first joint, while the service provider continues hauling the cable toward the second manhole.

Hauling toward the first manhole has been completed, and preparations for the next phase of the repair are about to commence.

Hauling of the new cable has commenced toward the first manhole. Progress toward the second manhole is being affected by a municipal water leak. The service provider will arrange to rent a water pump at 07:30 to assist with dewatering the affected area.

The service provider confirmed that the Openserve ducts are severely damaged and is currently exposing the affected section to assess the full extent of the damage. Next update at 05:00

Cable field staff is busy with Witbank fault. Fault will be escalated to the SPOC to check if they cannot arrange another resource. Next update will be provided at 04:00.

Optic fibre cable technicians are still identifying the correct optic fibre cable. The contractors who caused the damage covered the manholes with soil. Exposing is therefore required at various locations.

Multiple cables are damaged cause by municipal workers repairing a burst water pipe. The team is identifying the correct optic fibre cable to perform a conclusive assessment.

Vumatel technicians found that an underground cable has been damaged and a disconnect has been detected at 7.7km. Further investigations are ongoing regarding repairs.
