Openfibre is currently experiencing the following issue:

Affected Area: President Boulevard Rustenburg

Impact: Customers may experience no connectivity. 

 

Openfibre technicians are currently investigating. There is no ETR at the moment. 

 

Update (09/06/2026 @ 06:49):

OpenFibre confirmed that this outage was resolved on 08/09/2026 @ 21:15. Please restart your devices and contact our Support Team at 010 593 2665 or support@coolideas.co.za should you still experience connection issues.

 

Update (08/06/2026 @ 07:00):

Kindly note the joint troubleshooting call with the vendor will continue throughout the day today as the teams are still trying to identify all possible issues.

The troubleshooting call is still in progress and we will provide progressive updates as they come through.

OpenFibre team is currently on an active troubleshooting call with the Vendor Engineers, working directly with them to resolve the issue at hand.

 

Update (06/06/2026 @14:42):

Open Fibre have received an acknowledgment from Huawei, and a vendor engineer has been assigned to the case.

They are continuing to push them for an urgent resolution. In the interim, with ongoing investigation, kindly assist with rebooting the on-site device and advise if services have been restored. 

 

Update (06/06/2026 @12:20):

Open Fibre engineering team has been working extensively to resolve the ongoing issue, but it unfortunately remains unresolved.

As a next course of action, they have escalated the matter and logged an official support call with Huawei for advanced vendor intervention.

There is no ETR at the moment. 

 

Update (06/06/2026 @10:55):

As per the latest update received from carrier services team, the call was deferred to 09:00 this morning. They have confirmed that the investigations are currently underway and remain on track. 

They continue to monitor progress closely and they provide further updates as they become available.

 

Update (06/06/2026 @22:15):

Following a troubleshooting call between our Open Fibre's vendor and engineering team, their current findings indicate that the issue does not appear to be related to the router infrastructure.

Further investigation will require assistance from their Architecture team to perform deeper analysis and troubleshooting 

A call has been scheduled for 09:00 tomorrow to assist with identifying the root cause of the issue and determining the appropriate next steps

They will provide a further update once the session with the Architecture team has been concluded 

Please note that this matter has been escalated to the EXCO teams of both Open Fibre and the upstream provider, and the incident continues to receive the highest level of attention and priority.

Open Fibre confirmed that this outage was resolved on 06/06/2026 @15:32. Please restart your devices and contact our Support Team should you still experience connection issues.

 

Update (06/06/2026 @ 13:56): 

Following the replacement of the on site equipment, the link has remained down. The matter has been escalated to the vendor, and a joint troubleshooting call has been arranged to investigate the issue further.

 The call has been rescheduled for this evening. We are currently experiencing some challenges coordinating with the limited support resources available over the weekend and are awaiting confirmation of the final time slot. We will provide a further update as soon as the call time has been confirmed.

 Please note that this matter has been escalated to the EXCO teams of both Open Fibre and the upstream provider, and the incident is receiving the highest level of attention and priority.

 We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused and appreciate your continued patience and understanding while we work towards resolving the issue.

 

Update (06/06/2026 @ 09:17): 

Please be advised that our engineer was onsite but unfortunately the link remained down. 

The issue has been escalated with the H3C Support team for further investigation.

 We are pushing ETA today and will provide feedback when received.

 

Update (06/06/2026 @ 05:01): 

Our teams completed work on site, but the link remains down. The fault has been escalated for further investigations. 

 

Update (05/06/2026 @22:13): 

Openfibre team is currently on site and work in underway. More feedback to follow on the progress. 

 

Update (05/06/2026 @15:47): 

Kindly be advised that our on-site team has confirmed that the replacement device they were attempting to install is faulty. They are currently arranging for an alternative device to be sourced and installed.

 

Update (04/06/2026 @12:17): 

A technician has been dispatched to site to replace the router and restore connectivity.

 

Update (04/06/2026 @12:15): 

Open Fibre technicians are currently onsite and replacing the active H3C equipment. There is no ETR. We will provide feedback when received. 

 

Update (04/06/2026 @ 21:23):

Openfibre teams are scheduled to attend the fault tomorrow morning in order to investigate the onsite equipment.
