Open fibre is currently experiencing the following issue:

Affected Area/s: Newcastle Mall 

Impact: Customers may experience no connectivity.

 

Open fibre technicians are currently investigating. There is no ETR at the moment.

 

Update (08/10/2025 @ 19:13):

Open fibre confirmed that this outage was resolved on 08/10/2025 @ 19:13. Please restart your devices and contact our Support Team at 010 593 2665 or support@coolideas.co.za should you still experience connection issues.

 

Update (08/10/2025 @ 13:32):

The team has located the fault and confirmed that the Municipality removed the LIT Maverick manhole and covered it with tar. They are currently engaging with the Municipality to obtain permission to reopen the tarred area so that the damaged cable can be

 repaired. The Municipality has acknowledged that their team accidentally cut the cable.
