Vumatel is currently experiencing the following issue:

Impact: Customers may experience no connectivity. 

 

Vumatel technicians are currently investigating. There is no ETR at the moment. 

Update (25/02/2026 08:35):

Vumatel confirmed that this outage was resolved on 24/02/2026 16:35. Please restart your devices and contact our Support Team should you still experience connection issues.

The technicians are onsite currently busy cleaning the manhole for the installations. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and keep you updated on any further developments.

Please note Vumatel technician is en route to assist team ETA to Mookophong at mh01 is 50min.

 

Update (24/02/2026 @ 05:44):

As per latest update from the technician indicated that at MH01 they suspect the cable is burned. When testing at MH14, all spare fibres are failing at MH01, Team require the civil team to assist by exposing the manhole and installing a new cable.

Vendor technician indicated that they are currently in the field checking the legs towards the Vumatel POP.

Tech indicated that the team will test the link once they reach the Modimolle POP. ETA 30mîn

Vumatel tech indicated that he is busy splicing the fiber at MH32.

Vumatel tech indicated that the team is currently diverting the heavy bend, which is underground at a depth of 0.89 meters.

Vumatel tech advised that there is a live fibre towards Modimolle on the leg. Testing was conducted 1.4 km from the MH02 cut-in towards Naboom, and he is currently testing the live fibre from the MH02 cut-in towards Naboom.

Vendor technicians have been delayed due to unfortunate circumstances. Further updates will be shared as soon as they become available.

The vendor has sent a technician to site for further testing.

Vumatel team is awaiting the vendor team to arrive at the Mookgopong PoP to proceed with further investigation.

As per latest update from field team, technicians will be going to POP site first to test the fault, ETA is 9:15AM, more updates will be shared accordingly.
