Vumatel is currently experiencing the following issue:

 Vumatel technicians are currently pulling slack to implement a temporary fix.

 Technicians will perform another resplice, while another team is en route to fetch the required stock.

 Joint site meeting is being arranged with vendor to assess the extent of the damages and repair requirements.

 Vumatel technicians are following up with the fibre provider on the progress of the fault and will share progressive feedback as soon as possible.

Four poles and the 48F cable have been cut. Vumatel teams are on site and assessing the extent of the damage and repair requirements.  

 

Update (20/03/2026 @ 16:20):

Testing from the POP indicates that the backhaul cable is damaged at approximately 7.2 km along a 10 km route. Vumatel team is currently en route to locate and assess the physical damage.

Vumatel technicians are following up with the fibre provider on the progress of the fault and will share progressive feedback as soon as possible.

 Vumatel vendor technicians are on site and actively working to localize the fault. Further updates will be shared as they become available
