Octotel is currently experiencing the following issue:  

 

Start Date & Time:05/12/2025 @14:41

Affected Area/s:  Kensington, Blouberg and Melkbos Nodes - Western Cape West Coast and Northern Suburbs

Impact: Customers may experience no connectivity. 

 

Octotel technicians are currently investigating. There is no ETR at the moment.

Octotel confirmed that this outage was resolved on 06/12/2025 @ 09:58. Please restart your devices and contact our Support Team at 010 593 2665 or support@coolideas.co.za should you still experience connection issues.

 

Update (06/12/2025 @ 09:02):

We are observing a majority of affected customers have restored whilst certain customers in Woodstock, Salt River, and CBD remain affected.

Technicians have been working diligently throughout the night in efforts to repair the extensive damage caused to infrastructure by civil work taking place and continue to work to restore services fully.

Kindly note services remain at risk while technicians work on permanent repairs.

ETR: ~5 hours

 

Update (06/12/2025 @ 07:52):

We are observing most of the affected customers connectivity have restored while some customers in Woodstock/Salt River still remain down. Technicians are currently working on repairs and splicing multiple links to restore all services.

Kindly note services remain at risk while technicians work on permanent repairs.

ETR is 6 hours.

Octotel technicians are currently splicing fibres to restore connectivity. We are observing most of the affected customers connectivity have restored while some services still remain down. Kindly note services services remain at risk while technicians work on permanent repairs.

Floating teams are currently working on repairs onsite.
Octotel technicians continue with restoration work to restore connectivity for Kensington, Melkbos, and Blouberg aggregation nodes.
Currently no ETR available.

 

Update (05/12/2025 @ 19:45):

Octotel technicians located damage to the infrastructure that is affecting multiple services. The technicians have started the restoration, requiring new fibre to be floated.

 

Update (05/12/2025 @ 18:46):

Octotel technicians were unsuccessful in localising the fault. The Octotel team is currently en route to float a new cable.

Update (05/12/2025 @ 18:03):

Octotel technicians are experiencing difficulties with localising the fault however efforts are ongoing.

No ETR is available as yet

Octotel technicians continue to work on localising the fault.

Octotel technicians have identified a disconnect ~5.6km from site and are en route to localise.
