Open Fibre is currently experiencing the following issue:  

 

Start Date & Time: 19/11/2025 @ 07:52 

Affected Area: Cape Town  

Impact: Customers may experience no connectivity. 

 

Open Fibre technicians are currently investigating. There is no ETR at the moment. 

 

Openfibre confirmed that this outage was resolved on 19/11/2025 @ 15:55. Please restart your devices and contact our Support Team at 010 593 2665 or support@coolideas.co.za should you still experience connection issues.

 

Update (19/11/2025 @13:38):

Please be advised that Open Fibre's on-site engineer, together with their remote engineering team, are actively working to restore all impacted services while minimizing disruption. 

An estimated time of restoration has not yet been determined. They will provide further updates as they become available.

 

Update (19/11/2025 @11:49):

The Open Fibre team has isolated the cause to Johannesburg and is currently investigating why the routes are not functioning as expected. A troubleshooting call is still in progress in an effort to resolve the issue, while remote hands are being dispatched to both

 the Isando and Rondebosch data centres to initiate a rollback

 

Update (19/11/2025 @11:33):

Open Fibre's initial investigation has identified a fault on a core network link (NNI).

Their technical teams are actively engaged, and an engineer is already on-site at the data center performing the necessary interventions to restore service as quickly as possible.

They will provide our next update within 60 minutes or immediately upon any significant change
